Jada’s Jams: December
When I think about 2020 being nearly over, it’s quite mind boggling. I remember 2019 being so unbearably long and miserable, and it feels like 2020 just started. Graduation is just around the corner, which I am not prepared for in the least, and I am awaiting my very overdue panic attack. But it’s December, Christmas spirit time, yay! Here are my top 10 songs that aren’t your classic Christmas tunes, but will definitely put you in the jolly mood.
10. Mmmh by KAI
I’ll admit, this one doesn’t necessarily give me Christmas vibes, but it deserved some recognition. Perhaps one could listen to it sitting in front of a fireplace thinking about that special person, or where you want to be in 10 years, etc.
9. Crystal Snow by BTS
When this song was released, I went snowboarding in Colorado for the first time over winter break. I was so excited for it to come out, as I knew it would be one of those songs that takes me back to a specific time in my life. I can still remember the scenery of the cabin we stayed in and the way to snow flurries melted in my hair. Though I was a very different person, it brings back good memories.
8. Dream Launch by Wayv
The memories this song brings out is crazy, I was at such a different point in my life, looking back makes me feel weird. Things are so different for me now, yet a part of me wishes I could go back in time and do things a little differently. I get happy vibes from it though.
7. Seattle by Sam Kim
This song is extra sad for me since Sam wrote it out of homesickness. It makes me feel for all of the international kpop artists not being able to see their family as much as they want, brings a tear to my eye. He gets really emotional when he talks about this song.
6. Close To You cover by 林愷倫
I like this version better than the original, sorry, I don’t make the rules. It sounds much more meaningful to me the way this lady sings it, It’s one of my favorite cover songs. Very much snowy mistletoe vibes
5. Eternal Love by Michael Learns To Rock
I remember hearing this song after I watched a very sad kdrama and it has never left my playlists. I WISH someone felt this way with me but alas, this stupid person has yet to confess their undying love to me. I’ll get back to you on that.
4. 9 by Willow Smith
I want Willow to hold me and sing me to sleep. Then and only then will I be able to die happy. The vibes this song gives me are good and bad because it reminds me of a certain stupid person in my life. Perhaps I have a love/hate relationship with this song.
3. Horchata by Vampire Weekend
This song is a new discovery, and is very fun to listen to. I haven’t heard anything quite like it, which is appealing to me because a lot of music sounds the same sadly. I wish more people would switch it up, but I’m not one to talk, most of my music I listen to sounds the same hehe
2. Mystery of Love by Sufjan Stevens
If you haven’t seen Call Me By Your Name, stop what you’re doing and go watch it right now. The story is beautiful and heart wrenching, and the soundtrack to this movie is incredible. Will definitely make you feel all the feels in the world.
1. We’re The Lucky Ones by The Marias
I love every song she releases, her vibes are so immaculate, I just want to have a picnic in Italy with her listening to this song. I would definitely ascend.
All things aside, I hope anyone reading this has an amazing Christmas and makes some pretty dope memories. Good luck with the next year, hopefully it’s better than the few before it.
Hello fellow comrades, I am the astounding Jada Mattson you probably have never heard about. This being said, I will put forth my utmost efforts to live...
