Boys track repeats as Area Champs, advance to Regional meet

Boys varsity track secured their third consecutive district win with 181 team points, winning first or second place in seven out of the last 10 events.

“It feels amazing to win district for the third year in a row,” senior Stanley Nwosu said. “It was something I wanted to do to cap off my senior year.”

Senior Cino Sanchez received second in the 300-meter hurdles and third in the 110 hurdles, and senior TJ Walker won his fourth district title in the 100-meter with a time of 10.64-seconds.

Senior Tashawn Banks won first in high jump and sophomore Billy Bowman Jr. took fourth in long jump.

“[Going to district] was a goal we set for ourselves and expect for ourselves,” senior David Aussenhofer said. “So it’s gratifying to know that our hard work always pays off at the end of the season.”

The boys won three of the first four running events at Keller ISD Athletic Complex with a score of 128 points, winning their third consecutive Area Championship on April 18 and 19.

Walker placed first in the 100-meter with a time of 10.63, Bowman placed fourth, and junior Tra Smith placed fifth.

Walker, Nwosu, junior DJ Allen, and freshman Austin Jordan all qualified for the Regional Track Meet in Lubbock.

When asked what he’d miss the most about his last season, Aussenhofer didn’t hesitate to mention his teammates, revealing just how strong this team really is.

“I’m going to miss the family aspect of the team, which is something different about Ryan,” Aussenhofer said. “We really treat each other like brothers, so that’s going to be something I’ll miss.”
